Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the website and services provided by Umami Academy (Pty) Ltd ("Umami Academy", "we", "us"), registered in South Africa at 15 Loop Street, Cape Town, 8001. By using our website or purchasing a course, you agree to these Terms.

1. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity on your account. Notify us at hello@umami.academy of any unauthorised use.

2. Purchases & Access

Course purchases grant you a personal, non-transferable, lifetime licence to access the content for your own learning. You may not share, resell, redistribute, sublicense or publicly display the content.

3. Intellectual Property

All videos, PDFs, recipes and branding are the intellectual property of Umami Academy or its licensors and are protected under the Copyright Act 98 of 1978 (South Africa) and international copyright law.

4. Acceptable Use

  • No downloading, screen-recording or scraping of course content.
  • No reverse engineering of the platform.
  • No harassment, abuse or unlawful use of the community channels.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules without refund.

5. Payments

Prices are in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable. Payments are processed by Paystack; we do not store card details.

6. Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the course in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

8. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or on the website.
